We all grew up aware of ‘stranger danger’ but kids nowadays have to be wary of threats online too. This week on Hear and There we chatted with Bayside author Lisa Rothfield-Kirschner, about her new children’s book, “How We Got Cyber Smart”, helping families and kids to stay safe online.
How We Got Cyber Smart is a children’s book that follows the adventures of two kids Olivia and Jack, as they navigate the online world dealing with issues of cyber bullying and online safety. It tells the story of how they became cyber smart and dealt with their online bully. It provides practical advice to parents and children in how to protect themselves online and look after their safety.

Meet Olivia,
Olivia loves learning math and science at school and anything to do with technology because she is curious by nature. She has fun with science experiments and loves playing the times table game on her tablet.
She also enjoys playing basketball with her friends and teammates and riding her scooter at the park.
Meet Jack,
Jack loves learning art and music at school, he is a very keen drawer and likes experimenting with making cool pictures on his tablet. He is a little bit shy and sometime likes to play practical jokes because he loves to make people laugh.
He enjoys playing basketball with his friends and teammates and riding his bike at the park.
Olivia and Jack recently celebrated their birthday in the park with their family and friends. They had a basketball shaped chocolate ice cream cake with extra chocolate chips yummy!
Olivia and Jack have a lot to learn about staying safe online and their parents are teaching them about safety and what do if they get into any unsafe situations online.
“Let’s download ‘BasketBall Boomers.’ You can shoot lots of hoops very quickly and play against other people online.”
